💾 Data Storage & Privacy

  • 100% Local - All data stored in your browser (localStorage)
  • Private - No cloud sync, no tracking, completely offline
  • Backup Important - Clearing browser cache deletes data! Export regularly.

📈 Understanding XIRR

XIRR (Extended Internal Rate of Return) is your true annualized return rate.

  • Accounts for timing of all contributions
  • More accurate than simple ROI
  • Best metric for tracking investment performance

🌡️ Inflation Adjustment

The "Goal (Today's €)" shows when you'll achieve your target in real purchasing power.

Example: With 2% inflation, to have €100,000 purchasing power in 10 years, you need €121,899 nominal value.

📊 Understanding the Chart

Learn to read your portfolio visualization and distinguish history from projections.

🎨 Visual Guide

SOLID LINES

= HISTORY (Actual Data)

  • Dark Blue - Your actual portfolio value
  • Orange - Money you've actually invested

DASHED LINES

= PROJECTION (Estimates)

  • Light Blue - Estimated future portfolio value
  • Yellow - Estimated future total invested
📍 Point Where Lines Change

= TODAY (transition from history to projection)

📏 Distance Between Lines

= PROFIT/LOSS (bigger gap = more profit)

━ Horizontal Line

= YOUR GOAL (target to reach)

Portfolio Value (Blue)

  • Solid line: Your actual portfolio balance from broker/bank
  • Dashed line: Estimated future value if current trends continue

Total Invested (Orange/Yellow)

  • Solid line: Money you've actually put in so far
  • Dashed line: Expected total contributions if you keep same pace

📊 Reading Profit/Loss

📈
Blue ABOVE Orange = PROFIT

Your investments are growing! Good job! 🎉

📉
Orange ABOVE Blue = LOSS

Market downturn or poor picks. Review strategy.

➡️
Lines Parallel = ZERO GROWTH

Just saving, no investment returns.

🔮 Controlling Projections

In Portfolio Configuration, you can toggle:

💵 Contributions ON/OFF
  • ON: Projects future deposits
  • OFF: Only existing capital grows
📈 Growth ON/OFF
  • ON: Uses your XIRR return rate
  • OFF: Zero growth (savings only)

💡 Best Practice: Keep both ON for most realistic projection!

⚠️ Important Reminders

  • Projections are estimates, not guarantees. Markets can change!
  • Past performance doesn't guarantee future results
  • Reality can be better OR worse than projections
  • Use projections for planning and motivation, not as financial advice
